Even more dramatic is the improvement while watching (Avengers) Infinity War, with the sound of super-heroes zooming and panning smoothly across the screen. And some of the large-scale battle scenes with rival armies charging across the plains of Wakanda almost feel as though I’m listening to an expensive multi-speaker surround sound system. Switching back to Queen again, the wired connection helps to deliver a much greater sense of space as Brian May’s guitar solos go bouncing from left-to-right, and the operatic chorus on Bohemian Rhapsody sounds truly epic as the SXFI effect allows it to really open up and deliver a sonic punch.

Compared to the SXFI Air C before it, the SXFI Air is a much better manifestation of the promise of Creative’s Super X-Fi technology. There’s much more versatility in terms of the audio sources you can pair the headphones with so you can really enjoy the Super X-Fi experience everywhere. The Super X-Fi effect with these headphones also seems more consistent, so there’s less drop-off in performance moving from source to source.

If you’re a gamer who wants an affordable headset that can be brought out publicly without screaming, “I’m a gamer,” yes. The microphone is excellent, as is sound quality. While Super X-Fi listening isn’t the best for podcasts, it makes gaming and cinema noticeably more immersive. I do wish the headphones folded, but it’s a small sacrifice to make for these otherwise excellent $160 headphones.

When using Super X-Fi there is a true sense of depth to any source material chucked at it. Take for example Battlefield V, you actually feel like you are in the field, part of the horrific war, you can hear the bullets from a distance, bombs dropping, everything felt more precise. Playing Resident Evil and all its jump scares, from a distance, to close up, all gave a true sense of immersion. I am not going to lie here, Dolby Atmos also gives the sense of being surrounded, but the added sense of depth and distance created with Super X-Fi just encapsulates your hearing experience in all new ways.

Once you setup the SXFI Air, it is a breeze to use. The Super X-FI has become my benchmark in listening to music. With wireless, it has become more convenient as compared to the SXFI Amp. Love that the pad can be removed for maintenance and the NanoBoom Mic is working well (and also can be removed).

Super sound quality.

An amazing product. Great for moviies and music. Great on youtube music videos especially. Tried it on some games and the effect was fantastic. Was also using it on flights and the earcups effectively blocked out almost 50% of the engine noise, and once the sxfi was turned on, the overall effect is as good as the noise canceling earphones I had previously. Will not trade this for another.

Fantastic quality sound and comfortable ear pads.

This is a very good-looking an classy design. The lighting accents go well with a gamer’s style as well as a professional’s. The matte black finish does not attract dust or fingerprints. The physical controls on the left ear up are easy to locate and get used to. The ability to use them via Bluetooth, USB-C to USB-A, or with a 3.5mm cable -and even with an micro-SD card, is very welcome, making them very extremely versatile. The Bluetooth connection is not the best as I did experience some stability and connection issues but not overly distracting. Battery can get you through an entire day. They are comfortable to wear because of the plush, mesh fabric ear pads which rest around the ears. The clamping is decent but not excessive making them secure on the head. However, after wearing them non-stop for about 3 hours, i did experience fatigue from the head band, which is made of soft pleather, and I think it might need additional padding. This is nothing a little break can resolve. The touch controls are OK. I had some response issues while using them in Bluetooth mode. Again, this is not a huge deal but worth mentioning. These headphones sound good -not great, but good enough. The bass is a bit heavy but not overbearing. The mids are clear but a bit pushed back, and the highs are present without being too piercing. They work well with bass-heavy music, games and movies. However, I would not recommend them for high-quality music (if you listen to high-fidelity sound you probably have specific cans). However, the star of the show is the SXFI experience. One needs to download an app, do a headshot scanning and set them up on a mobile device (which is a bit of a pain). Once activated with a button push, the sound signature changes dramatically. While some directional clarity may be lost, the sound does become much clearer, the bass is punchy and the space awareness is amplified incredibly. It is almost like being transported to a huge room or hall with speakers outside of your head. The end-result is quite immersive. This works best while playing games or watching movies. Music is more subjective, and there were times where I turned it off. However, i did enjoy live or concert music with SXFI on. Overall, while these headphones have some flaws, and sound experience is highly subjective, my experience was enjoyable. The connectivity options, the comfort, and SXFI make these headphones easy for me to recommend.

Very balanced tuning to these headphones. No overwhelming bass to my ears, but tuned just the right amount if you like balanced sound. I'm sure with the right EQ settings the bass can be set to your liking.
